Strawberries are about to be exported to Malaysia, Singapore

SON LA When in the main season, about half a ton of strawberries will be exported to Malaysia and Singapore for the first time by the Son La Strawberry Cooperative Union.

Sharing with VnExpress , Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong, President of Son La Strawberry Cooperative Union said that this unit has just signed a memorandum of understanding with a partner and will export Son La strawberries to Singapore and Malaysia markets.

"We are waiting for strawberries to enter the main season for export. The first shipment is expected to export about 500 kg to explore consumer tastes in these two countries," Ms. Luong said.

According to Ms. Luong, Son La strawberries have varieties from Japan, harvested from early December to mid-May next year. When picked, the ripeness is over 90%, so the strawberry is sweet and fragrant "not inferior to the strawberry imported from Korea".

Last year's crop, Son La Strawberry Cooperative Union harvested about 320 tons, sold in 26 provinces and cities across the country.

This year, this unit is expected to harvest about 750 tons of strawberries and will for the first time "enter the southern market as well as export to Singapore and Malaysia". The selling price at the beginning of the season per kg of Son La strawberries in Hanoi is 380,000 VND.

Ms. Luong added that this strawberry is grown and strictly followed steps from harvesting, packaging according to VietGap and Global Gap standards. "All regulations from picking to shelves in supermarkets and stores in Hanoi must not exceed 18 hours to ensure freshness," said the Chairman of Son La Strawberry Cooperative Union.
