Note when exporting Vietnam's lemons and pomelos to New Zealand

According to the Plant Protection Department, lemons of all kinds: Citrus aurantiifolia, Citrus latifolia, Citrus limon, Citrus limonia and pomelo from Vietnam are allowed to be imported into New Zealand from November 15, 2022.

Lemons and grapefruits must meet the requirements of the growing area and the packing facility is registered with the Plant Protection Department and the Plant Protection Department notifies the Newzealand side. Plantations are managed by pests. The fruit is washed and combed after harvesting.

The fruit is not infected with Newzealand's pests of interest. Specifically, lemons are: aphids Diaphorina citri; aphids Nipaecoccus viridis, Planococcus kraunhiae, Planococcus minor; thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis; and the fruit flies Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera zonata and B. Zonata.

Grapefruit is the planthopper Diaphorina citri; aphids Nipaecoccus viridis, Planococcus kraunhiae, Planococcus kraunhiae, Planococcus minor; thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis; red spider Tetranychus kanzawai; fruit flies Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera correcta, Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera zonata, Zeugodacus cucurbitae, Zeugodacus tau.

The product is irradiated with a minimum dose of 400 Gy. Export shipments must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate; including additional declarations.

Specifically, the consignment of Citrus aurantiifolia and Citrus limon includes Citrus limonia: additional declaration is as follows: "This consignment was produced and prepared for export in accordance with the agreed bilateral arrangement." And additional declarations for pests requiring MPI-specified measures are: "This consignment was irradiated for Bactrocera carambolae, B. dorsalis, B. latifrons and B. zonata."

The consignment of Citrus latifolia lemons is additionally declared as follows: “This consignment was produced and prepared for export in accordance with the agreed bilateral arrangement.” And additional declarations for pests requiring MPI-specified measures are: "This consignment was irradiated for Bactrocera carambolae, B. dorsalis and B. zonata."

The consignment of pomelo was additionally declared as follows: “This consignment was produced and prepared for export in accordance with the agreed bilateral arrangement.” And additional declarations for pests requiring MPI-designated measures are: “This consignment was irradiated for Bactrocera carambolae, B. correcta, B. dorsalis, B. zonata, Zeugodacus cucurbitae and Z. tau.” ./.
